Am I the only one that didn’t like the new Wednesday series?
Main Post:
I’m not saying it’s bad. The premise was interesting and it really could’ve worked... if they didn’t make it an Addams Family series. I didn’t like the way Wednesday was presented in this series. The rest of the Addams Family were on par with their typical persona, Morticia and Gomez were still attached at the privates, Pugsley was still a naive idiot that, I believe has to derive some kind of pleasure from the way he’s treated, Lurch was present, Thing’s design was fantastic and I love him.
But Wednesday. At first she seemed to be the OG Wednesday, dropping the piranhas in the pools which was awesome, but after episode one, she turns into nothing more than a narcissistic goth Sherlock Holmes and rarely does anything that matches her history as a character. She’ll make sly remarks about how she’s dangerous but never actually shows it. Wednesday is supposed to be the unassuming psychopath. You never suspect her because she was just a little girl. Now she’s a teenager which I was fine with, everyone gets older, but also everyone suspected her of being a psychopath which completely negates why people liked Wednesday in the first place. She’s always been the most ruthless Addams. She just isn’t that in this series. So my rating for it is probably a 6/10. It’s good but not as an Addams Family show.

I thought it had really great moments (the cello scenes, the dance) and some good humor. But man the mystery was sooooo boring and uninspired. I truly did not care who the monster was. Tbh the best part of the show was watching Wednesday not fit in and struggle at relationships. I wish they had focused more on that and skipped the mystery.
Why do you think the show Wednesday became so popular and watched by so many people around the world?

What made this show better than the other tv shows you have seen in the past?
Top Comment: I think the Addams family is so interesting and nostalgic and I think this is one of the most recent adaptations that people really caught back on to
New look at Wednesday Season 2

I could not get behind the popularity of Netflix's Wednesday.
Main Post:
So I watched or rather tried to watch the series Wednesday on Netflix thinking it would be a fun adaptation of one of my favourite addams family characters.
You may criticise me for it but I did not manage to get through episode 1 as I found everything about it simply off-putting.
As a result of it I tried looking up an older addams family film to reaffirm that it is not simply that I passes out of a phase and simply do not enjoy the addams family anymore, for this I used addams family, family values as can be seen on Prime.
This film, however, I still thoroughly enjoyed. I found from this that the characters are simply completely different as though the 2 are from different realities.
Where I found the portrayal in the family values adaption to be happily energetic about the macabre with unique personalities properly supporting one another to create a fun sinister display. Here I can describe Wednesday as a mischievous, intelligent, sadistic and slightly homicidal child which I would day is my cup of tea.
Then looking at the portrayal in Wednesday I find it to be completely loaden with teen angst and edginess, though from word of mouth she is described as intelligent she does not come across as such at all in the show. The family is incoherent and disharmonious, they completely lack the chemistry as seen in the earlier works.
I am familiar with Tim Burtons earlier works and thoroughly enjoyed their macabre take, however I believe he completely missed the nail with his portrayal of the addams family as the cynicism and light heartedness is completely absent from it. As such I can hardly even say that Wednesday belongs amongst the addams family shows.
To add to the unpopular opinion I believe that the casting of the father and brother figures are completely off as they do not fit the characters at all and as for the mom, well she shows too much emotion for the role she tries to fill. The character of Wednesday herself has been alright in the cast, simply that the script does not fit the image of the addams family.
To conclude my solitary rant, I am saddened that it did not live up to what it potentially could have been and instead has been turned into yet more teen angst.
If you did like it, kudos I dont intend to take away from that. It is simply not my cup of tea.

Wednesday and Tyler thoughts
Main Post:
I originally didn't think Tyler liked Wednesday. He must have been faking it, but after rewatching it I'm changing my opinion.
In the episode when he meets Wednesday, he doesn't know who she is and only seems to offer to take her to the station after telling him her name. That makes me think he was curious. Also, Wednesday fixes the coffee machine which Tyler says is a temperamental beast, and has a mind of its own. No one can read the instructions because they're in Italian. BUT SHE CAN. SHE CAN UNDERSTAND HIM. Just maybe, she can help.
He says something along the lines of "I've never known a nevermore kid to get there hands dirty". Which sounds like admiration.
He also tries to take her to the train station a second time during the festival. He says "at least one of us can get out of this town". If he was purely helping Laurel he wouldn't have offered again.
At the dance Ms Thornhill says it's a pleasant surprise to see them. When Wednesday goes to get drinks, he looks really uncomfortable, like "don't leave me with her". I thought originally it was because of the awkwardness, being left alone with a customer and not because she's the master. After she's gone, he's waiting for Wednesday and he looks even worse. She has definitely told him to date her to help, which is foreshadowed by Ms Thornhill talking about the carnivorous plants' sexual trickery.
Also, the monster song!! It says "I'm a teenage tiger" but it sounds like teenage Tyler!
Tyler was about to give Wednesday something before they're interrupted by Eugene. I really think he did like her. He decides not to after he finds out they were going monster hunting. What was he going to give her? This was after he received the note Thing wrote him, so it was supposed to be after she had shown vulnerability, and I think he wanted to equal her.
After the dance he admits he knows about her putting piranhas in a swimming pool, and she says she'll do it again. His response: "I know there was a reason I liked you". AHHHH I WANT THEM TO BE TOGETHER. She loves creepy things and monsters, things needing to be solved. She could help him.
Random thing, when Tyler confronts his dad about him hunting the monster, the sheriff changes subject to Tyler's therapy sessions. HE WAS WONDERING IF TYLER COULD BE THE HYDE ALREADY!
Feel pretty bad for his dad. Loses the love of his life and then has to deal with his son being the serial killer /monster. I wished that was explored more.
I absolutely hated Tyler after he asks Wednesday how it feels to lose, but admittedly this was after Wednesday almost hit him with a hammer. He knew she was going to torture him. I did think he was evil but now I just think he was forced to be in that position. He wasn't supposed to be evil. He can still redeem himself. I feel like they had amazing chemistry. I don't think he hates her, but Wednesday does hate him. What do you think?
Top Comment: I'm on the fence if Tyler is actually in control of himself. I believe the Hyde he can't control but his love for Wednesday followed by his hatred is so night and day that I believe one of them is a complete lie created by something else. With that said, I don't like it was Tyler that got with Wednesday.
